HELP!!!!!

I have attempted to scan a document that is on Cal State letter head. This is a document that has the logo and address on the left top of the page, and College of Education on the right. On the bottom of the page is the list of Cal State Colleges.

I scanned the blank document into Word and attempted to type underneath, this resulted in the College of Education and the logo shifting.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

    Robert,

The approach I would take is the following:

I would scan the document into my computer as a JPEG.
Open WORD and insert the JPEG into the document.
Stretch the JPEG across the WORD doc so that it is as large as the original 81/2 X 11 document (or the desired size).
Next, highlight the image by left clicking the image with the mouse, then with the image highlighted, right click the highlighted image, right click the mouse and select format picture. Select the layout tab, then select the bullet titled behind text (horizontal alignment should default to “other” if not selected then selected it).

You’ve just formatted your JPEG. Take a breath.... Save your work!

Next, from your Master Toolbar list (select dropdown, view, toolbars), select the “Drawing” toolbar.
From the drawing tool bar select the “text box” feature and create a large text box across the formatted JPEG image.

This text box will shift and it will have a color inside of the box. Don’t panic. It needs to be formatted.

Next, right click the edge of the text box, select, “format text box”.
    Select “layout” tab
Select wrapping style “in front of text”; select horizontal alignment “other”. While the text box is still selected (highlight) from your drawing toolbar, select the “fill color” feature dropdown arrow (little arrow to the right of the bucket pouring paint), select, “no fill”.
You should now see through the text box.
Reposition and scale the size of the textbox over your document.

To remove the line around the textbox: Highlight the textbox, select the “line color” feature dropdown arrow (little arrow to the right of the paint brush), select, “no line”.

By clicking into the text box you can type information in the text box! To change the margin of the letter you will need to reposition the text box by moving the textbox with your mouse.

    Hope this helps!

    What he said (above :-)
Good luck with it. Scanners can be very helpful or a pain in the booty.

Great explanation....personally I cheat. I type my text and make sure that I have it centered or adjusted the proper way to fit the paper that I am using. It is cheating, and the idea by discoveredu is much better. But it is an idea. Good luck!
